Who is likely to
benefit by using AppsFarm?
The characteristics of adaptability,
flexibility and network readiness associated with application services makes
them highly suited to certain types of business environments. The types of group
or organisation that are likely to see the most benefit from using AppsFarm.com
are:
High growth
No type of business is more in need of the
ability to quickly access computing resources than a business that is growing
fast, particularly small businesses and those in industries with a high
proportion of start-ups, such as technology and Internet. There is little time
available to find staff, evaluate alternatives and gain expertise.
Mobile workforces
Our AppsAnywhere technology, that enables
applications to be accessed from any web browser, is ideally applied to mobile
workers for standard applications such as email, collaboration and office
productivity. Once an organisation has decided to provide its mobile workforce
with such capability it is a short (and sensible) step to outsource this
capability to a third party.
Mergers or reorganisations
Corporate reorganisation, mergers and
acquisitions and expansion into new geographies or business areas all place
extreme demands on an IT infrastructure, at a time when IT staff are under
pressure to adapt existing systems to the new corporate landscape.
Highly distributed branch networks
To reduce the cost and complexity of
implementing and maintaining applications for extensive branch networks some
organisations are moving to server-based architectures in which branch staff
access applications using a web browser interface or other thin client. It is
then a short step to use a third-party organisation to provide serve the
applications and support the network, taking advantage of the provider's greater
expertise and economies of scale.
Extranets
Unlike purely internal deployments, extranets
require significant security preparations that further increase their cost and
difficulty. We have built the sophisticated firewall and network technologies
needed to securely connect with partners and customers, making deployment that
much easier.
Virtual teams
The increasing proliferation of ad hoc teams
and 'virtual corporations', where participants are dispersed geographically and
across multiple organisations, lends itself to application serving where an
electronic office accessible by all within the team is created.
Delivery of Internet-based shared applications
provides the benefit of allowing the team to concentrate solely on the project.
Although members may join for short periods to contribute specific components
and then leave the team, AppsFarm allows users to be set up at minimal extra
cost to the customer.
Once the project is complete, the entire
service may be "torn down" without the organisation(s) having invested
significantly in equipment that will no longer be used.
