Only the largest organisations can afford the level of technology that powers AppsFarm.  And then you need the skills to run it.  How do you keep abreast of the latest developments, apply security patches, constantly monitor performance and ensure maximum availability?

Our backbone architecture is extremely fault-tolerant both in terms of Network connections and Server Hardware. Production servers are interconnected on stacked Gigabit or FastEthernet switches (dependent upon the servers’ function within the architecture) with redundant, load-balanced Network Interface Cards. Servers have redundancy in all critical components such as CPU, Hard Drives (Disk Mirroring and RAID5), RAID Controllers etc. and selected application servers are clustered to provide full server redundancy. Data storage systems are connected to servers using fiber channel connection for fast data access.

All servers are protected using industry leading Cisco Secure Pix Firewall. In addition to the immediate protection of the firewall, all connection logs are monitored to detect and take preventative action in case of any intrusion attempt into our Network.

We utilise diverse, load-balanced pipes from AT&T and UUNET multi-homed to different ISP’s with BGP4 routing to ensure backbone redundancy.

As a member of AT&T’s ASP initiative, we are deploying servers and infrastructure into AT&T’s state-of-the-art data centres around the world. These data centres provide direct access to the AT&T global data network, thus providing high speed access to a very wide client base. Further, these data centres have highly redundant and secure electrical, temperature, and security facilities.
